Last week, I excitedly wrote about Digital Engagement in Culture, Heritage and the Arts (the new digital strategy book by Jim Richardson and Jasper Visser). Well, this week I have more good news to share with you. It’s time to put on those reading glasses – the NMC Horizon Report, 2013 Museum Edition is here (its being released in a special session at MCN 2013 – like right now!).
What is the NMC Horizon Report, 2013 Museum Edition?
The NMC Horizon Report, 2013 Museum Edition, is a co-production with the Marcus Institute for Digital Education in the Arts (MIDEA), and examines six emerging technologies for their potential impact on and use in education and interpretation within the museum environment: BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), crowdsourcing, electronic publishing, location-based services, natural user interfaces, and preservation and conservation technologies. To learn more about what’s on the horizon for museums, watch the video below:
And don’t forget to download the report (click here). Is your museum “on track” or currently experimenting/using (successfully or unsuccessfully) any of the horizon technologies? Are you surprised by any of the technologies included or left out of the report?
